Feeling Trapped? There is a way out.

Many people have mastered “masking” the pain in their lives. Masking has become a way of our every day living. Instead of being set free from the pain, we suppress, hide, and lie about our true feelings. But it was never intended for you to live this way. People for so long have lived their lives filled with past and present hurts, torment, and disappointments with no relief of the current pain in sight. Scared of what people may think or say, you begin to say, “you’re free” when you’re bound. You say, “you’re happy”, when you’re sad. You are laughing on the outside while screaming within. You can’t trust the words out of your mouth anymore because you’re speaking what you think people want to hear and not truth. John 8:32 - And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. Validation from people has become more important than the validation, confirmation, and affirmation that you receive from God through His Word (Jeremiah 1:5.)

God wants you to live a “Life without Limits.” John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. You begin to feel as if you are all alone and misunderstood. At every turn and at every corner you try to get ahead, but you find yourself at another dead end street. You’re looking for a way out. Why me? You begin to ask yourself that question over and over again.

It reminds me of a bird that some how got into my home. This bird was out of place and in an environment that would limit its flying abilities. A bird was created to fly outdoors. The bird was not created to be caged and limited. Where you are in your current state is crippling your strengths, limiting your abilities, and trying to kill your destiny. Why would God equip you with so many strengths and abilities and then confine you within a box? The sky is your limit – a life without limits. Yet this bird was trapped in my home. Trapped in an environment where the walls and ceiling would dictate how long and how high the bird could go. The bird was sitting on my picture window in my den. It saw where it wanted to fly. It saw the trees, the deck it once sat on, the leaves, but the window couldn’t open.

Have you ever felt so close but yet, so far away? You can see where you want to go, but the door doesn’t seem to open. You can taste the freedom on the other side, or is it a figment of my imagination?  Be encouraged and know that the other side is closer than you think.  My husband had to steer the bird in the direction of the door.  John 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enters in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.  You try to fix and patch your brokenness, but there’s no relief.  You’re going to the wrong source.  God is your source.  You’re at the window looking for a way out, but you need to be at “the door.”

Finally, after steering the bird for some time, we got the bird to see the entrance was in another room.  The bird flew and soared like never before.  Once you have really been set free after being bound for so long, you will take off and soar.  One songwriter put it best, “I Believe I Can Fly.”  Mark 11:24 Therefore I say unto you, what things soever you desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

I broke the silence of the pain I endured in my life, so that you would stop suffering in silence. I hear your scream and I have cried your tears. But now is the appointed time (Ecclesiastes 3:1) for you to be set free. John 8:36 - If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. Why would you live a life of bondage when you can have an “unmasked” life of freedom? I call it living a life without limits. No more restraints, shackles, and chains holding you back from becoming who you are born to be. You have lived your life with the only hope that “some day” it would get better. You don’t know when or where, but you rest in the hope of your blessed “someday.” I want you to be resurrected from your pain. I want to tell you, through this book, that your “someday” is today. You have choices and you can choose to be set free. Break out of your depression, anxiety attacks, emotional roller coasters, fear, doubt, panic attacks, triggers that continue to resurface, and conflicting voices that contradicts God’s Word. Shut down the voices and stabilize yourself with God.
